Christmas is right around the corner and this “out of bed before the sun comes up / out of work after the sun goes down” lifestyle is taking a toll on 9-5ers worldwide. To get our office more fired up than they already are about the holiday season, we asked everyone what their favorite Christmas movie was and why. Also, we’ve included a short clip so you can kick back and enjoy a few Christmas classics this afternoon.

Flick: Home Alone

Why: It is my favorite because I have watched it every year since it came out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Reminds me of being a kiddo (and the movie is HILARIOUS).

Flick: Bad Santa

Why: Why not?

Flick: Rare Exports

Why: I like the creativity behind this, it explains why there are so many Santas in malls and why we have Christmas trees. It’s just a different way of looking at the Christmas tradition. It’s not your typical Christmas movie.

Flick: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Why: Absolute classic that is still funny even though I’ve probably watched it every year since it released (1989). Chevy Chase at his best, Randy Quaid even better (who else can get away with wearing a dark Dickie Turtle Neck under a white sweater).

Flick: Elf

Why: Will Ferrell has always been one of my favorites. He just has that ‘kid stuck in an adult world’ humor. This movie captures that perfectly.

Flick: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

Why: It’s a classic that I’ve loved ever since I was a kid. Hearing any part of the soundtrack (with many songs sung by Burl Ives) fills me with warm Christmas memories. It’s an epic adventure with Yukon Cornelius, the Island of Misfit Toys, and the Abominable Snow Monster.

Flick: The Nightmare Before Christmas

Why: Who doesn’t love a good Tim Burton flick? It’s the perfect blend of dark humor, whimsical romanticism, and of course, holiday cheer. Jack Skellington’s over joyous delight at the discovery of Christmas always reminds me of how it felt to be a kid at this time of year. And those songs are just so catchy!

Flick: A Christmas Story

Why: So many reasons, but my favorite is “Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian.” This is the icon of Christmas movies and no other Christmas movie is played for 24 hours straight on the holiday.

Flick: The Santa Clause

Why: 1. Who doesn’t love seeing Tim Allen riding in the sleigh wearing his boxers. 2. It taught me the best Hot Cocoa is “Not too hot. Extra chocolate. Shaken, not stirred.” 3. You are never too old to believe in Santa and celebrate Christmas like an eight year old.

Flick: Just Friends

Why: It’s funny every time.
